I just discovered a racing series made entirely of Twingos! They get a beefier engine and safety stuff, 130hp for less than 800kg and stock brakes and transmission. This looks incredibly fun! I think I have a new bucket list item. Maybe we should get an Oppo racing team!

Awesome! Do they swap in another engine? 130hp sounds like it might be a 1.6 from the RS.

We should form a team, haha! And if we can’t get into a Twingo cup the Citroën C1 cup would be an alternative.

Yep it is the 1.6 indeed! The racing seems pretty good too. Entry costs are € 4,000 for the whole season (8 races I think), which, even accounting for the price of a Twingo and the mods necessary, seems to be a pretty cheap way to get into racing! One day maybe...

With a few sponsors it should be easily doable! Does it require a racing license?

Finally, a rear-engine, rear-wheel drive car series I still can’t afford but is still much more affordable than getting a 911 RSR.

But these are the Gen 1 Clio, and they are very FWD!

But Hon Hon man! Also probably much, much cheaper.

Micras probably are cheaper given how often people crash these lol

You’re right, I definitely wasn’t thinking properly.

I forgot that what got me interested Twingos in the first place was the previous generation 133 Cup model which was very front engined and very front wheel drive.

I can’t really blame you, I’m still dreaming about the day someone’s finally gonna make a Twingo 3 (the RWD ones) with a proper engine, something like a Hayabusa swap or maybe a flat-four from Subaru?
